Recruiting Reading For All. Anytime. Anywhere.
From the Editor
AI can. And it cannot. Meaning, it can help improve recruiting and hiring today when properly implemented, trained, optimized, and utilized. But it also cannot, because there are still limitations and biases in the applications of it today.
I saw someone post recently on LinkedIn that “The AI of today is the worst and most expensive in recruiting technologies.” That may or may not be true, or somewhere in between, but it’s going to keep coming, and to stay relevant and competitive in the near further to come, HR and talent acquisition leaders and their teams need to proactively adopt and leverage what it brings, but need to invest enough resources to get it right.
This week, Elaine Pulakos, PhD. writes:
To develop truly effective AI-powered resume screening, organizations would need to invest significant resources in creating unbiased training data. It’s risky to train AI on past resumes from candidates who were hired and performed well.
One technology giant had to scrap an AI-powered resume screening tool because it consistently downgraded female candidates.
The reason? It had been trained on past hiring data, and the company’s workforce, like many others in the tech industry, was dominated by men.
Jim Stroud shares a similar perspective with The Power of Predictive Hiring: How AI is Revolutionizing the Recruitment Process.
This week’s newsletter also includes even more new recruiting and sourcing articles, a new candidate experience case study, a new batch of recruiting and hiring news links, free webinars to register for, and a new discount code below (good through March 30th) for our upcoming ERE Recruiting Innovation Summit April 29-30.
Let me know if you’ve got any news to share. Thank you for reading!
