What's Next for LinkedIn?
The ERE Media team is in high gear this week preparing for our upcoming ERE Recruiting Innovation Summit in San Diego on November 4–5. The Summit is the best learning event in talent acquisition, bar none, and if you’re still thinking about joining us in person, there are a few spaces left.
If travel isn’t in the cards this close to the Summit, you can still be part of the action. We’ll be livestreaming the entire event, and we put a lot of effort into making sure virtual attendees don’t just watch; you participate. Expect professional production, live interaction, and the incomparable Jim Stroud as our livestream MC.
Before the ERE Summit, though, I’m looking forward to a different trip to San Diego. I’ll be there next week for LinkedIn’s Talent Connect Summit.
Let’s face it, there’s no company in the world more impactful for talent acquisition professionals than LinkedIn. Its hold on professional networking is stronger than ever, and it is increasingly seen as a legitimate social network—perhaps the last one that still encourages civil conversation—instead of a static collection of profiles.
As the AI gold rush continues, LinkedIn has a massive opportunity. The company sits atop an unmatched trove of professional data, and as part of Microsoft, it has access to extraordinary compute power and deep partnerships with major AI players that no other company in TA technology can match.
But there’s risk too. Disruptive technology always creates the kind of environment where new competitors emerge from unexpected places, and I’m old enough to remember when LinkedIn itself was disregarded as insignificant by the big job boards.
Next week, I’m eager to see how LinkedIn envisions the road ahead: its product roadmap, how things are going with their AI agent Hiring Assistant, and what all of this means for the talent acquisition profession.
There will be about 1,500 TA pros at Talent Connect. If you’ll be there and want to meet up, drop me a note. I’d love to connect.
